Why an interpreter is needed
A notary must be sure each participant understands the content and consequences of the deed. If you don't know Polish and no translation into a language you understand is attached, the notary translates it personally or with an interpreter (Art. 87 of the Notaries Act). Signing a document you don't understand is a risk for you and for the notary.
Which acts
Powers of attorney, sale agreements for a flat or car, gifts, consent for a child to travel abroad, statements (oświadczenia), company formation documents, certification of signatures and copies. Property deals also involve the land register and the bank.
How we organise the visit
We confirm which deed is needed, pass the details to the notary for the draft, find a sworn translator for your language, agree a shared time and send you a list of what to bring. If the notary can share the draft early, the translator can prepare a written translation and the appointment goes faster.
What it costs
The cost covers the notary's service and the interpreter's work and depends on the type of deed, language and length of the visit. We quote the total before the appointment.
When no interpreter is needed
If you speak Polish fluently, the notary may proceed without an interpreter — it's the notary's call. If in doubt, book one: a refusal on the day costs more.
